Western Screech Owls require a lining for their nesting boxes, unlike barn owls, they won’t make their own nest house floor of crushed owl pellets. Wood shavings are ideal. Do not use wood chips due to the possibility of pests on chips. $15 purchase is enough for 4 screech owl houses. Shavings can also be used for any other purpose you may have, and some users report good results when lining the Amador Barn Owl Box (although not required).
